For Thirty-Five Years Mr. Heard Had Been Identified With the Business Life of Macon. *********************************** Jacob F. Heard, former banker and prominent business man of Macon, died at his home, NO. 107 Heard Avenue, aftter an illness of about six months. The funeral will be helld this afternoon at 4 o’clock from the family residence, Rev. J. A. Monasees officiating. Mr. Heard was born in Bibb County in 1858. He was a self-educated man and began teaching at Midway at the age of 17 years. He taught for several years and afterward entered the mercantile business. He was employed by Willis Price in the cotton business for several years and later entered into a partnership with John T. Moore as Heard & Moore. Mr. Heard latter organized the firm of Heard Bros., cotton warehousemen. Six Years Bank President. In 1883 Mr. Heard Married Miss Estelle Findlay, For six years he was President of the Fourth National Bank, but retired several months ago because of faioling health. Thirty-five years of Mr. Heard’s life had been spent in the business life of Macon, always siding in helping to make a greater city. Mr. Heard is survived by his wife, four sons, A. J. Heard of Michigan, J. T. Heard of Savannah, A. F.. Jr., and Liewellyn Heard of Macon, and one daughter Mrs. G. M. Wicker, of Macon, also four brothers and two sisters, J. M. Heard, Bailey Heard, Dr. J. H. Heard and Rev. Walter Heard; Mrs. Grace and Mrs. G. E. Postell. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and oneb of its most faithful members. He was a former member of the firm of Heard Bros., cotton warehousemen, one of the leading warehouses of Macopn. Pallbearers at the funeral this afternoon will be L. P. Hillyer, R.V. Nottingham, T. D. Tinsley, J. B. Willis, Guy Armstropng and A. T. Small. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery. Additional Comments: Compiler Notes: He was the Son of Jacob Foreman Heard, Sr. who was born: 13 Feb 1815 in South Carolina and died 1 Feb 1891 at Rutland District in Bibb County, Georgia. His mother was Mary Elizabeth Busbee who was born: 17 July 1822 in Macon, Bibb County., Georgia and died 6 Aug 1901 at Rutand District in Bibb County Georgia. Jacob Foreman Heard married Mary Elizabeth Busbee on 7 July 1839 at Macon in Bibb County Georgia. Both are buried at the old Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemmetery. The Church there now is called Grace Primitive Baptist Church but the cemetery is called Sardis Cemetery.
