W. Jackson, nee Miss Sallie Allen, very well known to the young people of our city, departed this life on the night of August 3d. Mrs. Jackson was a most amiable, Christian lady, beloved by all. She died calmly, with a fervent prayer upon her lips. It will be remembered that her father, Captain J. J. Allen, mayor of Port Royal, S.C., died with yellow fever, rather than desert his people in their distress. We tender our warmest sympathy to the heart broken mother and the bereaved sisters of the deceased. Mrs. Jackson leaves a devoted husband and an infant to grieve over their loss. father: John J. Allen (died Dec. 1877) mother: Sara Paul Reynolds Allen sisters: Ann Eliza Reynolds Johnson Georgia Allen Pearce Sallie was born about 1858, and married A. W. Jackson on November 27, 1879 in Bibb County, GA. Submitted by Paula Griffin -- paula@infionline.net
