LEWIS DEAD. Her Funeral Will Take Place This Afternoon. Yesterday afternoon, at the advanced age of 83 years, Mrs. M. D. Lewis died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. S. Cushman. In February she had a severe illness and since then her strength has gradually failed until like a tired child falling asleep, she passed into her heavenly rest. Mrs. Lewis, was a member of the Vineville Methodist church, and though for a long time too feeble to attend services, she never lost interest in all Christian work and never failed to lend a helping hand wherever distress or suffering was known. Of a sweet, loving, unselfish nature, her time, wherever known, was associated with deeds of generosity and kindness, and her peaceful death was a fitting close to a long life of usefulness and work for others. Mrs. Lewis left only one daughter, Mrs. Cushman, and two granddaughters, Mrs. J. A. Edwards and Mrs. H. C. Tindall, all of whom live in Macon. The funeral will be this afternoon at the residence of Mrs. Cushman, and will be conducted by Revs. R. R. White and R. L. Morris. The pall-bearers are Messrs. M. Cockington, W. A. Boyd, A. H. Rice, R. H. Ray, F. L. Ward and W. Gray.
