Don Carlton Newbern, 49, of 3946 Melrose St., died Friday, July 6, 1990, in a 
local hospital.   Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Crest Lawn Funeral 
Home with Burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.  A native of Tift County, Mr. 
Newbern was born December 5, 1940, lived in Macon most of his life.  He was an 
acoustical ceiling and tile installer and of the Baptist faith.  Mr. Newbern 
is survivied by two sons, Tony Newbern and Robert Newbern of Roberta; a 
daughter, Pamela Newbern of Roberta; his father, Aaron E. Newbern of Macon, 
his mother, Gertis Ann Olive of Weatherford, Texas, five brothers, Phillip 
Hamm of Tallapoosa, James Hamm of Weatherford, Tracy Olive of Kansas and Eston 
Newbern and Chris Newbern of Macon; six sisters, Pamela Martinez of 
Burlington, N. C., Bobbie Lindsey of Weatherford, Cheri Courson of Macon, Judy 
Miller of Woodville, Fla., Nan Porter of Macon and Patricia Thames of 
Chattahoochee, Fla.
