Services were held on Thursday at 11 A.M. at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with the Reverend Randall Mimbs officiating. Burial followed in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family may be contacted at the residence of Tracy and Gail Nowell, 7455 Goodall Mill Road, Macon 31216. Box 6533, Macon 31208 or Beaver Creek Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Calvin Middlebrooks, 108 Clifton Road, Perry 31069. -Mrs. Nowell, the daughter of the late Mamie Sandefur Hunt and John Franklin Hunt, was born in Kathleen, Georgia on July 31, 1922. She was the valedictorian and senior class president of the Bonaire High School Class of 1939. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia College at Milledgeville, now known as Georgia State College and University. She taught school in Bonaire until her marriage to Francis Nowell, Sr. in 1946. Residing in south Bibb County, she taught second grade at Cynthia Weir Elementary until her retirement from the Bibb County School system. She was a past member of the Bibb County Teachers Association, Craft's Club, and Rutland AARP. She was of the Primitive Baptist Faith. Mrs. Nowell was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Francis Nowell, Sr., brother, Tommie Hunt and sister, Mary Alice Pierce, both of Perry. -She is survived by three sons, Lewis Francis Nowell, Jr. (Regina) of Macon, Tommie Hunt Nowell (Lynn) of Sevierville, TN, Tracy Alan Nowell (Gail) of Macon, and one daughter, Shirley Nowell Green (Allan) of Gray; five grandchildren, Cara Nowell Christy (Brandon) of Lizella, Lew Nowell of Macon, Alan Nowell (Heather) of Eastman, Amanda Nowell Carden (Jason) of Lizella and Leanne Green Holloway of Gray; six great-grandchildren, Seth Christy, Callie Margaret Christy, Joseph Christy, Stephen Holloway, Michael Holloway and Julie Holloway Wiggins (Clay); sister, Gertrude Hunt Hudson of Macon and many nieces and nephews and by her many special caregivers, especially, Annie Evans. -She was a special mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Over the years, her hobbies included canning, baking, reading, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, growing flowers, fishing, and traveling the country in a motor home. Later in life, she loved to watch the Braves play on television. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly called her "Grand Margaret" and will remember her fabulous cooking, colorful rooster collection, and hand-made afghans.
