Elliott Harris died at 5 o’clock this morning from injuries sustained in a fall at his hotel in Ashville last week. He dropped backwards from a verandah railing and his skull was fractured. After being taken home he was yesterday carried to the day hospital where an operation was performed in the hope of relieving the injured man’s brain. Instead, he grew rapidly worse and death followed early this morning. He was a traveling salesman with the S.R. Jacques & Tinsley Co. He was a brother of Howell C. Harris and Charles Harris, and had many friends in the community. He was 38 years of age, and resided on Arlington place. Arrangements for the funeral have been made for tomorrow afternoon at St. Paul’s church. Rev. J.M. Northup will conduct the service. The remains will be interred in Riverside cemetery. The death of Mr. Harris caused a great deal of sorrow in Talbotton where he had many friends. He has been coming to Talbotton every week for about seventeen years and knew nearly every man, woman and child in the town. He was a man of fine character and numbered his friends by the hundred.
