Perry, 80, died Saturday, April 21, 2001. Born in Wrightsville, he had lived in Macon since 1945 and was the son of the late Andrew and Gussie Bell Garrett Perry. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1942-45 in World War II with the Second Armored Division under the command of Gen. George S. Patton. He was a safety inspector, retired from Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Houston Avenue Christian Church for more than 50 years, where he served as deacon and was named deacon emeritus. He also served as elder and as chairman of the administrative board. Survivors include his wife, Annette Brantley Perry of Macon, children Anne Ford of Jonesboro, Susan Ellison of Atlanta and William Timothy Perry of Macon; sisters and brother Sara Martin, Elizabeth Herringdine and Margaret Crawford, all of Wrightsville, Alice Jean House of San Antonio, Texas, Shirley Rowland of Warner Robins and Billy Perry of Macon; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
