It was a party of young men who left here about 3 o'clock. The drowning occurred about 5:30 pm. It is the first drowning of the season at local resorts. The body was recovered soon afterward and artificial respiration was applied by ......... Drowning Due to Cramps The young men were swimming in the lake and the drowning was said to have been due to cramps. Mr. Zeigler had been in ill health for the past several weeks and the cold water chilled him as he swam. George Zeigler was a brother of F. R. Zeigler, formerly financial secretary of the Macon Y.M.C.A., now of the Dunlap-Huckabee Automobile Company. The younger Mr. Zeigler was born in Ft. Motte, SC in 1897. He came to Macon four years ago to join his brother, and took a position with the Macon Clearing House, later going to the Fourth National Bank. A year ago he took a place with the Dunlap Hardware Company as bookkeeper. He lived at the home of Mrs. M. D. McCoy, 715 Second Street and it was with a number of young men from the same place that he went to Houston Factory yesterday afternoon. In the party were W. E. Stubbs, Charles Griggs and W. H. Cherry. Body to South Carolina Mr. Zeigler is survived by his brother, F. R. Zeigler, of Macon, Mr. N. T. Zeigler of Chattanooga and Jesse M. Zeigler of Orangeburg, SC, brothers; by four sisters, Mrs. ??? E. Putnam, Danville, VA; Mrs. C. A. Hooper, Reidsville, NC; Mrs. W. D. Kittrell, Ft. Motte, SC; and Mrs. N. W. Geddings, Lone Star, SC; by four half sisters and one half brother. The body, which was brought to the city last night, will be sent this afternoon at Ft. Motte, SC accompanied by F. R. Zeigler.
