B. (Daisy) Price, former mayor of Macon, died suddenly about 9 p.m. yesterday at her residence, 225 High street. Mrs. Price, who was about 82 years old, had suffered from a heart ailment for a period of three years, it was learned. However, she was apparently well yesterday afternoon, and her death came as a shock to friends. Mr. Price, who died about the turn of the century, was mayor of Macon for a decade preceding his death. After his death, Mrs. Price made her home with her sister, Mrs. Mary Lee Perkins Price (sic) who died in July, 1935. She was born in Bolingbroke, the daughter of Captain Lee Perkins and Mary Jane Ponder Perkins. Mrs. Price received her primary education from private tutors and later was graduated from Monroe Female college, now known as Bessie Tift. She was a member of Mulberry Street Methodist church. Mrs. Price has only one surviving relative in Macon, a cousin, Mrs. Margaret Stone Westbrook. The body will remain at Burghard-Connally mortuary until completion of funeral arrangements. (Daisy) Price, former mayor of Macon, will be held at 12 o'clock today at the home, 225 High street. Dr. Ed F. Cook, pastor of the Mulberry street (sic) Methodist church, will conduct the services and interment will be in the old Perkins family lot in Forsyth. Mrs. Price died Sunday night. Pallbearers for the funeral will be Andrew J. Lyndon, J. Harper Williams, E. Cleveland Scott, Frederick W. Williams, J. Ellsworth Hall and J. Clay Murphey. Macon Telegraph 24 Dec 1936 p 1 Price Estate Will Be Used As Home Fund Widow of Former Mayor Provides $100,000 for Aid to Aged Females SCOTT NAMED ON BOARD Underpriviliged Children of Bibb County Also to Share in Benefits Provisions establishing the Perkins-Ponder Foundation for aged females and underprivileged children in Bibb county are included in the will of Mrs. Mary L. Price, which was probated in common form yesterday afternoon by Judge Walter C. Stevens, county ordinary. Mrs. Price, widow of S. B. (Daisy) Price, one-time mayor of Macon, sets up the foundation as a perpetual memorial to her father and mother, Alexander Lee Perkins and Mary Jane Ponder. Net income from Mrs. Price's estate will be added to the principal until the net cash value of the estate is $100, 000, which will be the principal of the foundation fund, to be administered by an advisory board. No estimate of the time necessary to obtain the $100, 000 could be made last night. The board will include an officer of the Citizens and Southern National Bank, sole executors of the estate. the (sic) current mayor or executive head of the city of Macon, and a third member to be selected for life by the other two. Scott on Board First officer of the bank named to serve on the board is E. C. Scott, who also was willed Mrs. Price's house and lot at 225 High street. If the bank officer and the mayor cannot agree on the third member of the board, that member shall be named by a Bibb superior court judge, the will specified. Funds from the foundation shall be issued for charitable purposes at the discretion and decision of the advisory board, which will have final ruling as to the objects and means of the charity. Outsiders wishing to assist the fund with contributions may do so and the contributions will become a part of the fund. Turpin and Lane are attorneys for Mrs. Price.
