Sanders Manning was slipping through the river swamp looking for beavers. He saw something shaking the bushes on the riverbanks and thinking it was a beaver fired at the object. It proved to be young Joe Ray who was fishing. The load of buckshot entered his head and neck and he died in three or four hours. Young Manning, the boy who did the shooting, is in the greatest distress on account of the sad accident.
