The Cherokee Advance 24 Apr 1885 p 2
Prof. J. G. Ryals, Jr., president of the state normal school, died at 
Jacksonville, Ala., on the 18th inst., after a short illness.  He was the son 
of Rev. J. G. Ryals, of Cartersville.  The death of this remarkable young man 
is a public calamity.

Burial is in Oak Ridge section of Rose Hill cemetery, Macon, Bibb Co., GA.
