                     Mrs. Smith, 49, Taken By Death
                        Mrs. Mattie Mae Smith
 Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Mae Smith, 47, of 3890 Spencer Circle, will 
be held at 4pm today in the chapel of Horton Ivey Funeral Home. She was the 
wife of John W. Smith Sr.
 The Rev. James W. Waters will officiate and burial will be in Riverside 
Cemetery with Eastern Rites at the graveside. Pallbearers will be W. M. Tyson 
Jr., Julius Tyson, W. A. Davis, Fisher Parks, J. E. Oldham Jr., and Odie 
McLemore.
 The teachers of the Primary Department of Mabel White Baptist Church and the 
school lunchroom workers will sit in a group.
 Mrs. Smith, manager of John W. Burke lunch room, died Monday. She was born in 
Bibb County, the daughter of Sallie E. Jordan Tyson and William Tyson. She was 
a teacher in the Primary Sunday School Department and a member of Mabel White 
Baptist Church, a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star Dixie Chapter 410, 
member of the WMU of Mabel White Baptist Church, and the Georgia Lunchroom 
Association.
 Survivors, other than her husband, include two sons, John W. Smith Jr., USAF, 
Denver, Colo. and Victor Rene Smith of Macon; one daughter, Mrs. Gail Hamm of 
Atlanta; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Winona Blackwell of Macon and 
Mrs. John Bowers of Monks Corner, SC; three brothers, James Murray Tyson, 
Waller M. Tyson, and William E. Tyson, all of  Macon; and several nieces and 
nephews.

Mattie was born 16 Jul 1913. Georgia death certificate #26813.
