Collins, 77, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998. A lifelong resident of Bibb County, he was the son of the late Daniel and Eva Collins. He was a World War II veteran and received a Battlefield Commission, the Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster, the Silver Star, and the Bronze Star. He was service manager for a Ford dealer from 1947 to 1965 and retired from Jackson Olds in 1974. He was a member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church, American Legion Post and VFW No. 658. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Collins; children, Terry Stites of Snellville, Kirby Collins of Macon, and Russell Collins Jr. of Corbin, Ken; sister and brother, Mandy Ellis and W. B. Collins, both of Macon; and four grandchildren. The Family will receive friends from 6 to 7pm Monday at Ingleside Memorial Chapel. Additional Comments: Russell was born 25 Jul 1920.
