Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 3, at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Robert McDearmid and the Rev. Virgil Melton officiating. Music was provided by pianist Mrs. Felton Clements and soloist Mrs. Judy Griffin. Pallbearers were Robert L. Rowe, Victor W. Watson, James Sowell, Larry G. Latham, Lawton E. Tinley and Buddy Ellison. Honorary pallbearers were L. B. Clark, Joe Latham, T. M. Clark, Charles O. Kelley and Bob McDuffie. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Sally Gibbs Stanley; son, James Stanley; step-sons, Wayne Biggs, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Charles Gibbs, Key West, Fla.; stepdaughter, Mrs. Debra Schanamann, Woodbridge, Va.; and brothers, Roscoe Stanley, Barnesville and Theadore Stanley, Brooksville, Fla. Born Dec. 20, 1919 in Wilcox County, the retired truck driver and salesman was the son of the late George and Mary Etta Wilson Stanley. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church, and had lived in the community 41 years.
