He died yesterday morning after a brief illness of a few hours. He was the last remaining son of the late Judge Tracy. His brothers, Col Philemon and Gen. Edward D., both fell in the late war, leaving Campbell as the last son and only hope of an aged mother. They were all young men of extraordinary intellect, and will be long remembered by our citizens as children of the truest genius. Death has swept away the last wall line of the family. Philemon died at the head of his brigade, defending Vicksburg, and Edward fell upon the sanguinary field of Gettysburg. All their mother's affection were now garnered and centered in Campbell. He was several times wounded during the war, but was spared to die, not in the battle's shock, but in a peaceful town. And with this last stay gone, the mother's heart is broken indeed. Death is terrible in any form, but coming as in this instance, it is doubly so. It is the lot of us all. Death is a common friend or foe! As different men may hold: But at its summons each must go, The timid with the bold.
