James Spier was a merchant/farmer, resident in what would become Upson
County by  1822.  Married widow Aarran R. Birdsong (from whose former
husband title to the slaves, named below, derived) in 1827.  Acted as
guardian for G. L. F. Birdsong until his majority.

18th day of Aug. 1869 aged 48 years 5 months and 21 days.  Disease
