Was Out Hunting With Two Other Men Who Have Been Arrested For the Killing. Mr.Harry Wrye, a son of Mr.W.F.Wrye, of Eastman, was shot and instantly killed about two miles from Empire, in Bleckley County, on Thursday last, while out hunting with his brother-in-law, Mr.Tom Loyd, and Mr.John Pittman, an employee of Mr.Loyd. Mr.Wrye's companions claimed that his death was an accident, but relatives took a different view of the matter and swore out warrants for both Messrs.Loyd and Pittman, charging them with murder. The gun is said to have been in the hands of Pittman when it was discharged and caused the death of Wrye. It is said that there was only one gun in the party, and that it was passed from one to the other during the progress of the hunt. The gun belonged to Mr. Wrye's father. We are informed that Mr.Pittman was arrested Monday and placed in jail in Cochran, and that Mr.Loyd's arrest would follow. We have been unable to learn, however, whether or not this has been accomplished. The body of Mr. Wrye were interred in Empire Friday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev.J.A.Kimberly. He was thirty years old and unmarried.-- Eastman Times Journal. Compilers note: The microfilm for most of this issue was so dark as to be unreadable.
