H. Mullis, Sr., and son, Wilbur, of Cochran, spent a part of the holidays with Mr. J. W. Lancaster, father of Mrs. Mullis. •Mr. A. J. Thompson Sr., of Cochran, was in the city this week •Harry Wynne, of Cochran, has accepted a position with Henry & Pritchett, Jewelers. Tuesday, January 14, 1908 •Col. L. A. Tuesday, January 28, 1908 LOCAL AND PERSONAL NEWS •Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Peacock and Misses Fannie and Bessie Smith, of Cochran, visited Hawkinsville Monday. Friday, January 31, 1908 CARY ITEMS. •Mr. Frank Wade’s new residence is now under construction and when finished will be a beautiful home, large and convenient. •Mr. C. W. King will in a few months also have a large, nice dwelling completed. •Mr. T. R. Hendricks, of Hawkinsville, was shaking hands with friends at Cary Monday. •Mr. Ira Floyd, of Twiggs county, died recently, leaving a wife and several children. Mrs. D. Floyd, mother of Mr. Ira Floyd, is at this time quite sick with pneumonia. •Dr. Jameson reports Mr. and Mrs. Livingston as getting on very nicely after their terrible experience. •Miss Bessie Wade has returned to Soperton after a visit at home. Her many friends were delighted to meet her again. Mrs. S. R. Lee, of Cary, leaves this week for Augusta, Ga., where she will reside in the future. Pulaski loses one of its best and most useful women by her removal and her loss will be keenly felt, especially in the upper part of the county, where she was known and esteemed by all for her splendid accomplishments and many noble traits of character. For the past nine years she has been writing the news happenings of Cary for the Dispatch and News and was one of our best and most faithful correspondents. It is with much regret that we give her up and our best wishes go with her to her new home. Her husband and son will remain at Cary for a few months longer before removing to Augusta. Urquhart, last Sunday. •Miss Carrie Mae Chapman, one of the pretty Wesleyan girls, spent several days with her mother here last week. •Charlie Taylor, who has been taking a business course in Atlanta, is at home suffering with rheumatism. •Mr. and Mrs. Will Boothe were the guests of Mrs. Jake Morgan Sunday. •Mrs. Ed Harford spent last week with Miss Lana Pipkin. •Mrs. Clara Walker, of Macon, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. D. C. Walker. •Mrs. Joe McRae has returned from Hazlehurst where she visited her great- grandchild, son of Mrs. Josie Kelsey King. •Little James Taylor Cook is lovingly welcomed to earth by the family and friends of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cook. •Mrs. Anna Lamb and daughter, Mary, have returned from Florida, where they visited the former’s sister, Mrs. Bick Wyche. •Misses Alice and Annie Taylor are spending the week-end with Mrs. Walter Hunt Peacock, at her country home. •Mrs. T. L. Briley received the sad news of the death of her mother last Monday. •Miss Sarah Mullis has returned from Unadilla. •Mr. H. F. Bullard, of Cochran, spent Tuesday in the city. CARY ITEMS. •Mr. Robert Bollinger and family, of Macon, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Porter. •Miss Jennie Richardson and Miss Sallie Lou Porter visited relatives in Dublin a few days ago. •Miss Ruby Armstrong spent Thursday in Macon. •The visitors at Sunday school last Sunday were Mr. D. J. Pearce, of Montrose, and Mr. Robert Bollinger, of Macon. •Miss Maud Richardson spent last Saturday night with Miss Mattie Abney. •Miss Jennie Bragg and Miss Fannie Coley attended preaching at Trail Branch Sunday. •Miss Sudie Dennard returned home after spending a week in Cochran with her aunt, Mrs. Yearty. •Miss Emma Bishop, the assistant teacher of this place, has returned from Eastman where she went to attend the funeral of her brother. • Mr. R. D. Abney had a sing at his home last Saturday night.
