Mason Whitehead, one of Pulaski's best colored citizens, furnishes the Dispatch and News with a list of the people who resided in Cochran when he went there January 19, 1871, which is as follows: A. W. Weaver, B. F. Ryle, L. Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Landfair, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Landfair, Hixon Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Virgin Perry, Dr. and Mrs. T. D. Walker, O.A.Herrington, Mrs. Carry Adams, Dr. and Mrs. Y. H. Morgan, W. L. Poole, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Wayne, Mrs. W. J. Mullis, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mullis, Bill Pennick, Rev. William Steely, Mr. and Mrs. George Brown, W. T. McVay, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Berry, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Peacock and J. H. Johnson, Sol Maas. Mason says the following are the only citizens now living in Cochran who lived there in 1871, the rest having either died or moved away. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Harrell, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Dunham, W. J.
