CROP IS TOTAL FAILURE Showing to what extent the boll weevil has infested, invaded and spoiled cotton in Bleckley County, MR.Robert E. Perry,of Cochran, stated while on a visit to Jackson the past week that he would sell for fifty cents all the cotton he would produce on 13 acres of very fertile land. This same land informer years has produced from a bale to a bale and a half and two bales to the acre. This year the production will be nil—so near nothing that fifty cents would buy the whole out-put. Mr. Perry is one of Bleckley county’s largest and most successful farmers. He has refused $2OO per acre for the land on which this sea-son he will not produce the seed planted. The cotton was fertilized highly,400 pounds of guano being used to the acre. The wet weather and the boll weevil combined 1 made a complete failure of the crop, Mr. Perry stated. This is typical of conditions in the boll weevil area, according to the statement of Mr. Perry. He was on a visit to Indian Springs and the big dam and stopped off in Jackson for a short visit. Mr. Perry is known personnally to a number of the citizens here and is a man of honor and integrity and his statement is believed to be absolutely true.
