(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net December 12, 2009, 2:20 pm The Cochran Journal 12-3-1931 Front Page Body Of Mrs. Burch Rests In Cedar Hill Our community is again saddened by the death of Mrs. A. E. Burch, who succumbed at the Macon Hospital Monday night about ten o'clock. Her body was brought to Cochran Tuesday afternoon awaiting funeral arrangements for Wednesday morning, which were conducted from the Baptist church, with the local pastor, Dr. Frank Cochran, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. T. O. Lambert, pastor of the Methodist church. Mrs. Burch, the former Miss Nona Lee, was born October 10, 1881 and the daughter of Marshall (actually Mathew) Haden Lee and Georgie Ann Rozier. The family later moved to Dodge County near Middleground church, where she became a member. She was married to Alfred E. Burch on Dec. 24th, 1905 and moved to Chester where they resided until Jan. 1st, 1920 when they came to Cochran and have made this their home ever since. Mrs. Burch was one of those lovely characters who was modest in nature, and of a sweet and quite disposition, who everyone loved and admired. She loved home life and gave it that feminine touch which made it an attractive place for her family and her friends. The funeral was largely attended by those of her friends here, besides a large number who came from other towns. The lovely flowers sent on this occasion represented the fondness in which she was held by those who were near and dear to her. Following the services at the church, interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery with T. W. Fisher in charge. The pallbearers were: Messers F. L. McVay, J. E. Cook, J. P. Dykes, I. A. Willis, W. A. Meadows, and T. W. Floyd. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. J. E. Helms; one son, Mr. Quinton Burch; one grandson, Robert Wyndell Helms; two sisters, Mrs. Mida Burch of Cadwell and Mrs. J. E. McDaniel of Dublin; and one brother, Mr. W. H. Lee, of Wauchula, Fla.
