Mathis Funeral Home, Inc. Ralph G. Coats December 18, 1923 – September 19, 2010 Cochran – Ralph G. Coats, age 86, died Sunday in Bryant Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12:00 Noon at Mathis Funeral Home & the burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family is at 130 Albert Grimsley Road. Friends are ask to come if they will, to pay their condolences, one hour before the service Tuesday at Mathis Funeral Home. Mr. Coats, born in Rockmart, had lived in Cochran since 1959. He was not only preceded in death by his parents, the late Leonard Lee and Annie Inola Alsobrooke Coats, but also his lovely wife Eula Crane Coats. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Corbit Coats, Donald Coats, Otis Lee Coats, Sara Everett, Agnes Rainey, Magoline Rice and Zana Mae Tucker. He was retired from Southern Railroad after 44 years of service. He is survived by his children, Debbie (Ronnie) Butler of Cochran and Greg (Colleen) Coats of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Corey (Lindsay) Butler of Thomasville, Bret (Jennifer) Coats and Bryan Coats of The Woodlands, TX; great grandchildren, Brooks and Sage Butler of Thomasville; brothers and sisters, Leonard L. Coats, Jr. of Wedowee, AL, John Lamar Coats of Rockmart, Emily Bryan of Lithia Springs and Mary Jo Gorman of Lawrenceville. The family has requested that instead of flowers if you would donate to Alzheimer’s Association or charity of donor’s choice. He was a charter member of Uchee Trail County Club, a member, past president and district governor of the Cochran Lions Club and a member of the Cochran Masonic Lodge #217 F&AM.
