D. DAVIS PASSES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS Mr. W. D. Davis, after a brief illness of a few days,succumbed to death on Tuesday, Aug. 6th, at his residence in Cochran. Mr. Davis was a man of many friends and held in high esteem by those who knew him. His unexpected death came as a source of great sorrow. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Hays officiating. Interment was in Bethany Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Messers. DeWitt, Homer, and Ellis Smith, Y. G., Lupo, and John Wade, and Will Hall. T. W. Fisher undertaker was in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his wife and five children: Messers. Willie and Felton Davis, Cochran, Ozzie Davis, Oglethorpe; Mrs. Ida Churchwell, Cochran and Mrs. Lena Thompson, Montrose, besides many other relatives. Additional Comments: Death certificate is listed as W. D. Davis and the informant is his son, Willie Davis. The obituary is also listed as W. D. Davis. His cemetery listing is William T. Davis which is consistent with Census data, so I used William T. Davis. His wife, Carolyn Stevens Davis is also buried in Bethany. His father was Richard Davis and his mother, Margie Bass Davis, as listed on the death certificate.
