(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net November 14, 2011, 1:58 pm The Macon Telegraph 2-1-1989 Page 6D Elbert Davis COCHRAN--- Elbert Davis, 66, of Route 1 Pine Level Subdivision, died Monday in a Macon hospital. Services will be held at 3pm today in Lakeview Baptist Church in Cochran. Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens in Bleckley County. The Revs. Billy Vaughn, John T. Smith, and Kenny Rogers will officiate. A native of Wilkinson County, Mr. Davis lived most of his life in Cochran. He was a retired civil service employee of Robins Air Force Base and a member of the Cochran Lodge No. 217 F&AM. He was also a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, a deacon, a former Sunday School Superintendent, and former training union director. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn B. Davis of Cochran; a son, Elbert Davis Jr. of Jonesboro; a daughter, Jeanette Rismiller of Centreville, Va.; a sister, Josephine Gant of Warner Robins; four brothers, George Davis of Dexter, Buddy Davis of Warner Robins, Rabun Davis and Forrest Davis, both of Macon; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The body will be placed in the church an hour before services. The family may be contacted at the residence. Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran has charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Elbert was born 29 Sep 1922 to Jessie Bryant Davis and Bertha Lee Yawn Davis, who are buried at Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Twiggs County.
