Evans, 55, of Vernon Road, who died Thursday in a Warner Robins hospital after a long illness, will be held at 11am Friday in the First Baptist Church of Cochran. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Evans, a lifelong resident of Bleckley County, was librarian at the Cochran Elementary and Middle Schools. She was the Adult Education Coordinator for this area. She received her master's degree in library education from the University of Georgia. Mrs. Evans had been a teacher in the Blecklet and Cochran School System for 28 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Smith of Warner Robins; two brothers, James Nobles and Pete Nobles, both of Cochran; a sister, Mrs. Robert Moore of Macon. The body will be placed in the church at 10am Friday. Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Melba was born 17 Apr 1918 to Sherman Johnson Nobles and Effie Smith Nobles. Her husband was Johnnie Lee Evans who is also buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Georgia death certificate #008088.
