DODGE COUNTY NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS Volume V. 1929-1935 By: Tad Evans Date: Page 2369 Thursday, October 1, 1931 Obituary: Page 2370 J. A. FISHER, COCHRAN, DIES AT AGE OF 89. Cochran, September 25--- J. A. Fisher, 89, capitalist and retired business man of this city, died at noon today at the home of his son, T. W. Fisher, after a prolonged illness. Mr. Fisher suffered a stroke of paralysis about two years ago, when he retired from active business affiliations, but it was only about two weeks ago that his condition became critical. A native of Kentucky, he came to this sectionas a dealer in horses, mules and farm implements and settled in Cochran 36 years ago, and became identified in financial circles. He served as president of the state Bank of Cochran from the time of its organization until his retirement a few years ago. He was a holder of extensive farm lands and city real estate. He was a member of the Christian church. The body will be taken to his old home in Lexington, Ky., for interment. He is survived by three sons, T. W. Fisher, of Cochran, William Fisher, Lexington, Ky.; John Fisher, Soperton; a daughter, Mrs. Lawton Ware, Hawkinsville; four granddaughters, Mrs. Will Taylor, Louisville, Ga..; Miss Evelyn Fisher, Cochran; Misses Mildred and Mary Fisher, Hawkinsville; four grandson, Jordan and T. W. Jr., Cochran; Hughes Fisher, Soperton, and Joe Fisher Hawkinsville; one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Fisher Taylor, Louisville.
