                  Funeral Services Held For J. E. Helms
 Funeral services were held last Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1945, in the Cochran 
Methodist Church, for J. E. (Billy Jo) Helms, who lost his life in an 
automobile accident near his home in Dothan, Ala. on Dec. 31. Billy Jo was a 
native of Cochran and for many years he resided in this county. He is the son 
of the late J. S. Helms and Georgella Helms, of this county. He was 40 years 
of age.
 The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Faustine Burch Helms, and son, 
Robery Wyndell, and by three sisters; Mrs. Jule Porter, Mrs. W. A. Meadows, 
and Mrs. Will Trunell, all of Bleckley County and many other relatives in this 
section.
 Rev. J. I. Summerford, pastor of the local Methodist church, conducted the 
funeral services. The pallbearers were: T. W. Brown, Toombs Kimbrough, Willet 
Reeves, J. E. Reeves, M. W. Reeves, and T. H. Reeves.
 The deceased was very well known and very popular in this section. He 
graduated from public schools here and also attended Middle Georgia College, 
and later attended Webb School at Ball Birckle, Tenn. At the time of his 
death, he was manager of the mechanical refrigeration department of a large 
ice cream manufacturing concern in Dothan. The Journal joins with all Bleckley 
county in extending condolences to the family.

Additional Comments:
Billy Jo was born 11-26-1904 to Joseph Solomon Helms and George Ella Lane 
Helms. His wife, Faustine Burch Helms O'Dell is also buried at Cedar Hill 
Cemetery in Cocharn.
