                     Ernest Lanier Howell

 DANVILLE--- Ernest Lanier Howell, 68 of Route 1, died Friday in a local 
hospital. Born in Bleckley County, he was the son of the late William H. Howell 
Sr. and the late Lillie Dominy Howell. He was a member of the Little Bethel 
Freewill Baptist Church, was a World War II Navy veteran, and was the former 
owner of Howell Gulf Station. He was a retired logger and cattle farmer. 
Survivors: wife, Eva P. Howell; children, Dennis Howell, Douglas Howell, Gloria 
H. Churchwell, and Nora Howell, all of Danville, and Rita H. Maddox of Conyers; 
sister, Kathline Abney of Danville; eight grandchildren; and two great-
grandchildren. Services: 3pm Sunday in Salem Baptist Church, Bleckley County. 
Burial: the church cemetery. The Revs. Elbert Powell, Ray Topkins, and Pat 
Denton will officiate. Visitation: 7 until 9 tonight in Fisher Funeral Home, 
Cochran and the family may be contacted at the residence.
