From The Cochran Journal 10-6-1982 Page 12A Mrs. Gladys Cook Howell Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Cook Howell, age 67, of 812 Fifth Street, Cochran, who died Friday evening in the Bleckley Memorial Hospital, were held Sunday, October 3, 1982 at 3 o'clock in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home with Elder Julian Asbell officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Howell, a life-long resident of Bleckley County, was the daughter of the late Odis and Annie McLeod Cook. She was a retired employee of L & H Shirt Company. Survivors are her husband, Kim Howell of Cochran; two sons, Johnny Howell of Hooks, Texas and Alton Howell of Cochran; four sisters, Mrs. Lottie Sanders, Mrs. Grace Norris, Mrs. Evelyn Gilbert, and Mrs. Geneva Hall, all of Cochran; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Bobby Sanders, Harold Norris Jr., Jerry Norris, Ronald Gilbert, Roy Mullis, and Jimmy Mullis. Mathis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
