Padgett, 72 of Route 3 Cochran, who died early Monday morning in a Macon hospital following a long illness were held Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. The services were conducted by Rev. James Burleson. Burial was in the family lot in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Padgett was the former Miss Nettie Arnold, was born in Bleckley County the daughter of the late James Dalton Arnold and the late Mrs. Carrie Virginia Holland Arnold and has lived here all of her life. She was the widow of the late Mr. John D. Padgett, former Sheriff of Bleckley County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cochran and was a charter member of the American Legion Auxillary. There were no immediate survivors. The pallbearers were: H. D. Curtis, Willett Reeves, Charlie Mullis, Arthur Peacock, Jack Forehand, W. A. Holland, John R. Bozeman, Kelly Pritchett Sr., and Baxter Holland. The following ladies served as an Honorary Escort: Mrs. Agnes Chowning, Mrs. Helen Curtis, Mrs. Maude Britt, Mrs. Nellie Gibbs, Miss Nettie Horton, Mrs. Martha Bracewell, Mrs. Cornelia Horne, Miss Lois Bishop, Mrs. Asalee Purser, Mrs. Ruby George McVay, and Mrs. Beulah Coody.
