Frank C.. Porter May 23, 1924 – May 30, 2010 VETERAN Cochran – Frank C. Porter, a life long resident of Bleckley County , a War Veteran, and retired US mail carrier, died Sunday at age 86, in the Medical Center in Macon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. He was the son of the late J.B. and Rosa Belle Wade Porter and was preceded in death by his brother Willis Porter. Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Frances Phillips Porter of Cochran; his son, Charlie (Robin) Porter of Cochran; grandchildren, Kristin Porter (Mike) Basile of Athens and Jake Porter of Cochran, He also was in the US Army in World War II. Graduate of Cochran High School in 1941, and in 1943 graduate from Middle Georgia College and attended the University of Georgia. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church before joining Cochran First Baptist and then become a deacon. He also was very involved with his faith by helping with a few different committees and he also taught boys Sunday school class for 16 years. The family is at 277 Frank Cook Road and will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until time for the service Tuesday at the First Baptist Church. Mathis Funeral Home, Inc. 151 E.
