John Daniel "Dan" Shepard was born 10-8-1896 and died 3-14-1975 (GA DC# 007424)
and is buried at Union Hill Cemetery in Bleckley County.

John Daniel "Dan" Shepard

Funeral services for John Daniel (Dan) Shepard, 78, of 706 Palm Street, Cochran,
who died Friday morning in the Bleckley County Hospital following a long illness
where held at 3 o'clock Saturday in the Southside Baptist Church with Elder
Rupert Nobles and Rev. W. E. Flanders officiating. Burial was in the Union Hill
Cemetery.
Mr. Shepard was a lifelong resident of Bleckley County, a retired civil service
employee of Robins Air Force Base, and a member of the Oak Grove Primitive
Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Howell Shepard; three sons, M. D. Shepard and
James Wendell Shepard, both of Cochran, and R. Quinton Shepard of Palatka, Fla.;
four daughters, Mrs. Aberline Moore, Mrs. Alphia Purser, Mrs. Opal Skipper, and
Mrs. Merlyn Manning, all of Cochran; one brother, Talmadge Shepard of Warner
Robins; one sister, Mrs. Carria Mullis of Cochran; 14 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Daniel Shepard, David Shepard, Bobby Gene Shepard,
Ronnie Shepard, Ricky Purser, and Roger Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Jack Purser, Jack Jones, Dr. W. E. Coleman,
George Thompson, J. D. Hinson, Elder Julian Asbell, W. J. Bass, Edward Allen,
Rev. James Burleson, Rev. Buddy York, Alfred Roland, Bobby Moore, Frank Lyles,
Lawson Bryant, Joel Bryant, Rubie Bryant, and Elder E. D. Bryant.
Mathis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
