Sirmans, 88, of Cochran died at his residence on January 7, 2014. He was born in Berrien County, the son of the late Ezekiel J. and Euna Hancock Sirmans. He had lived in Cochran since 1968. He was a member of Limestone Baptist Church and was retired from Middle Georgia College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in the South Pacific during WWII, and later in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member and Past Master of Macon Masonic Lodge #5 and an honorary member of Cochran Lodge #217. He was a member of Cochran American legion. Survivors include his wife, Opal B. Sirmans of Cochran; son, John M. (Claire) Sirmans of Macon; daughter, Pamela (Steven) Carter of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, Steve (Brandi) Carter and Teresa Carter, both of San Antonio; several nieces and nephews, including Joan Sirmans of Nashville and Ollie June Taylor of Elko. Funeral services were held January 11 at 11 a.m. at Limestone Baptist Church. Burial followed at Limestone Memorial Gardens. Dr. Mark Shaw officiated. Pallbearers were Steve Carter, Ray Sirmans, Larry Sirmans, James Sirmans, Chuck Pipkin, Tim Pipkin, Stephen Brown. Fisher Funeral Home of Cochran was in charge of arrangements.
