   Cochran – On Wednesday 
in Macon at the Medical 
Center, age 80, Bernard E. 
Smith, died Wednesday in 
the Medical Center Funeral 
services will be held 
Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at 
Mathis Funeral Home. 
Burial will be in Salem 
Baptist Church Cemetery.
     Mr. Smith, a life 
long resident of Bleckley 
County, was the son of the 
late Felton and Nancy Jane 
Purser Smith and the 
husband of the late Louise 
Arnold Smith. He was a 
retired truck driver from 
Yellow Freight Trucking 
Co.
     Survivors are his 
children, Judy (Jeff) 
Grantham, Tony (Sarah) 
Smith and Jerry (Crystal) 
Smith of Cochran; 
grandchildren, Jimmy 
Grantham, Joy Simpson, 
Kristine Smith, Derek 
Smith, Phillip Smith and 
Tyler Smith; great 
grandchildren, Lance 
Smith, Logan Smith, Kayden 
Grantham and Landon 
Simpson; sister and 
brothers, Ruth (Louie) 
Ward of Montrose, Ralph 
(Dale) Smith of Warner 
Robins and Louie (Geneva) 
Smith of Cochran; special 
friend, Francis Horton of 
Hawkinsville.
The family is at 145 
Lonnie Bryant Road and 
will greet friends one 
hour before the service 
Saturday at Mathis Funeral 
Home.
