Brantley COUNTY GA Scott Cemetery File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Transcribed by Amy Hedrick, email: amylyn@btcoline.net http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/brantley/cemeteries/scott.txt Scott Cemetery, Waynesville, Brantley County, Georgia. This cemetery is located on private property. You will have to obtain permission from the hunting club that leases it to go see this cemetery. It is located about 3.5mi. south on Post Road in Waynesville. At the end of Post Road will be a gate, you will have to get out and walk from this point, if you have permission. Take the first road on your right and start walking. The cemetery will be on the right after you pass the hunting club station. It is marked with pink flagging. I couldn't measure the distance, but it takes about 5min. to get to it. There are only three graves in this "cemetery." They are all in a row. Two of them are inside a cast iron fence. As of yet no one knows who these people are or why they are buried where they are at. I have gone to this cemetery and taken pictures of the stones and transcribed them word for word as follows: TO MY MOTHER Beneath this stone Here MARY SCOTT lies our father lies our mother who died Alex C. Scott, Sr. ELIZA J. March 10, 1845 who died wife of Aged 52 years Oct. 30th 1875 Alex C. SCOTT, Sr. (footstone M.S.) Aged 69yrs. who died (footstone A.C.S.) Dec. 11th 1875 Aged 66 yrs. (footstone) **Thank you Huey Ham, President of the Brantley County Historical Society for telling me about this cemetery and it's location. ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
