Gaulden, Charlotte L. (1 Jan 1825 - 1 Aug 1889). "Wife of Charles S. Gaulden born in Monroe Co. GA, died at Quitman, Ga." "In memory of Charlotte Le Fayette Le Sueur beloved wife of Charles Scriven Gaulden and loving mother of Charlie G. wife of John Tillman, D. LeSueur Gaulden, William T. Gaulden, Samuel Scriven Gaulden, who survive her and John B., Cornelia S., James Albert who died in infancy and lie buried at Lumpkin, Ga." 2. Gaulden, Rev. Charles S. (5 May 1812 - 8 Oct 1884). "Born in Liberty Co Ga. Died at Quitman, Ga." "In memory of Rev. Charles Scriven Gaulden for 15 years he was a noted lawyer in Stewart Co. Ga. The balance of his life was devoted to missionary work, as a Baptist minister He sought not the Honors of this world, but the Glory of God." 3. Gaulden, William T. (14 Mar 1857 - 22 Mar 1923). "Teacher of youth and minister of the gospel he lived not for himself but for others." "Born in Stewart Co. Mch 14 1857 the son of Rev. G.S. & Charlotte L. Gaulden Baptised in youth by his father into the Thomasville Baptist Church. Graduated with high honors from Mercer Univercity(sic) in 1878 taught in public schools of Albany, Bainbridge, Eastman and Quitman ordained to the gospel ministery Oct 20 1903 Served faithfully organizing and building up churches and as a clerk of Mercer Association." 4. Alexander, Thomas M. (14 Jul 1844 - 12 Jul 1870). "In memory of Thomas M. Alexander only and dearly beloved son of Joseph M. & Salina Alexander was born July 14, 1844 was cruelly assassinated on the night of July 12, 1870." 5. Gaulden, Brantley G. (7 Mar 1828 - 3 Sep 1856). "Had prayers of love the power to save He had not filled this early grave We only hope that God has give An answer to those prayers in Heaven." 6. Dilworth, Cornelia L. (18 Apr 1833 - 2 Jan 1871). 7. LeSueur, Thomas (no dates). "Volunteer Soldier C.S.A. Mortally wounded in 2nd battle of Manassas. Died at Aldie, Va." 8. Gaulden, Rev. Jonathan ( 1776 - 5 Jun 1853). "To the memory of Rev. Jonathan Gaulden, & Mrs Rhoda Gaulden his wife and their deceased children. The survivors at this time August 1855 are John P. Gaulden, Charles S. Gaulden, William B. Gaulden, Brantley Z. Gaulden & Cornelia L. the wife of William S. Dilworth. The Rev. Jonathan Gaulden, Born on the High Hills of Santee, in Sumter District SC in 1776, and died June 5th 1853. In his 77th year. For near 50 years he was a member of the Baptist Church. He ever remembered the poor." 9. Gaulden, Mrs. Rhoda (___ - 19 May 1853). "Mrs Rhoda Gaulden the wife of Jonathan Gaulden and mother of Julia A., John P., Charles S., William B., Edward R., Sumner, Sarah C., Albert J., Cornelia L. & Brantley Z. Gaulden, was born in Savannah, Ga. and died May 19 1853 in her 66th year. For near 50 years she was a member of the Baptist Church. Too much devoted to her children." 10. Gaulden, Capt. Albert J. (12 May 1823 - 28 May 1848). "Capt. Albert J. Gaulden their 7th son was born May 12 1823 and was assassinated in San Miguiel, Mexico May 28 1848. At that time he was Capt. of a volunteer company in the U.S. Service in the Mexican War. He is buried here." On the west side of the obelisk: "Julia A. the 1st daughter of Rev. Jonathan & Mrs. Rhoda Gaulden died May 20th 1828 aged 18 yrs. Sumner, their 6th son died Sep 4 1820 aged 1yr & 7 mounths. Sarah C., their 2nd daughter, died Sep 29 1829 aged 5 yrs. These all lie Buried near the former family residence on Canouchee in Liberty Co. Ga." "Edward R., their 5th son was born July 16 1817 and died 1852."
