All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jennifer Cone JennyCone@aol.com August 6, 2003, 8:55 pm State of Georgia, County of Brooks: On this twenty-eighth day of January, 1876, before the subscriber, a Clerk of the Superior Court for said county, personally appeared Elizabeth Triplitt, who on oath declares that she is the widow (of) Eli Triplitt, who belonged to Company _____, in the Priv Fla Mitl Regiment of Florida Militia, in the service of the United States, in the war ______; that her name was placed on the pension roll of the State of Florida; that she received a pension certificate numbered 1110 and bearing date the Eighth day of February, 1870; that she was last paid at New Orleans Agency, to include the third day of September, 1875; that she has not bartered, sold, assigned, or pledged her pension certificate, or any interest therein; but that on or about the 21st day of December, 1875, at or near Quitman County of Brooks State of Georgia the said Certificate No 1110, being in possession of my agent Capt S W Brooks was then and there burnt up and destroyed as she is informed and believe, and the said S W Brooks agent, as aforesaid also joins in this affidavit as to the burning and destruction of said original certificate. He being qualified as to that fact with Mrs. E. Triplitt. My Post Office address is Quitman Brooks County Georgia Her Edward R. Harden (Signature of applicant) Elizabeth X Triplett William G. William G Bentley Clk Supr Court Brooks Co Ga Additional Comments: Elizabeth Cone Triplett was the daughter of Isaiah and Mary Stilley Cone of Craven Co., NC. She and her family lived in Madison Co., FL at the time of her husband's death on May 26, 1839. Her brother, Fountain Hayne Cone, indicated on Elizabeth's pension application of August 3, 1843, that Eli Triplett and Henry Brennan were killed and scalped by Indians. On a later pension application (March 31, 1853), Elizabeth stated that "she is still a widow and that she had by the said husband the following children, viz Elizabeth, Nancy, David & Eli."
