Personally before the undersigned appeared W.R. Knight, who being duly sworn, says that he was acquainted with G.M. Badger of Quitman, Georgia, for twenty five years prior to his death. That in many conversations with the said G.M. Badger that deponent heard him relate many of his experiences while in the Confederate Army. The only incident that is clear at this time in deponent's mind was that his company was stationed in a thick piece of wood and that a deer ran by them and the whole company shot at the deer and no one hit him. I remember that very distinctly as Mr. Badger said that he was one of the ones that fired at the deer. He related to me a great many other incidents of the hardships and exposure that they went though while in the army but I do not remember any especial incident except the above.
