C. Hopper, who has been manager of the Gaulden place,Okipilko Plantaion, for perhaps 40 years, has relinquished this task and retired to his own farm near Nankin. Mr. Charles Mitchell has taken over part of the management of the Gaulden place, which has recently been divided by the heirs, and is living now at the old home. Mr. hopper has made something of a record in his work on this large place in the past and it is said that has never bought a bushel of corn or a piece of meat for the place, in other words, it has paid its way.He has seen farming in Brooks county undergo many changes and is one of the active men in the county who is familiar with the old days when the county led in diversified methods and was known widely for its production of hogs and bacon products.The word "Old Days" are used as applying to the time when a group of well known men, many of whom have passed on, were leaders in the county's farming. Mr. hopper has been successful in his work and many friends in the county will be interested to know that he has finally gone to live on his own place and will wish him continued success.
