                    S. M. McKee Dies At Hospital Here
 S. M. Mckee, well known citizen of Quitman for the past 39 years, died at the 
local hospital Wednesday, October 14, following an illness of just a few days. 
Mr. McKee was taken ill about ten days ago and was taken to the hospital 
Friday and his condition became steadily worse, the end coming Wednesday 
morning about 9:30 o'clock.
 Funeral services were held Thursday morning from the McKee residence with 
Rev. C. C. Kiser in charge and interment following at Oak Hill Cemetery. The 
Masonic funeral service was used, Mr. McKee "having been a member and officer 
in Sholto Lodge here for many years".
 Mr. McKee was 82 years of age having observed his brithday on the 9th of this 
month. He had lived in Quitman for the past 39 years and was respected and 
esteemed by many friends here. He was a member of the Baptist church and was 
faithful to its tenets. He had been actively identified in church and 
fraternal circles here and his passing is mourned by hosts of friends. His 
unassuming manner and his fine virtues endeared him to many friends.
 He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Lula Carroll of Hawkinsville to 
whom he was married fifty years ago. He is survived by one son, T. K. McKee of 
Lake City, Fla., and one grandson, Tommy McKee of Lake City. Four brothers and 
three sisters in North Carolina also survive him.

Samuel was born 9 Oct 1860 to William David "Billy" McKee and Sara Jane Meshaw 
McKee.
