After crossing the railroad tracks, turn left in Richmond Heights. Go to the back of the subdivision. Cemetery is near the intersection of Hermitage Street and Greenwich St. It is enclosed by a brick wall behind private homes, but you can see it from the road. Four graves are inside the brick wall and one outside the wall next to a fence. Canvassed in November, 2003, and submitted by Roy and LaMonnie H. Moore in January 2004. SAVAGE FAMILY CEMETERY "Sacred to the memory of Mary Clay, daughter of Thomas and Mary Savage, born in Charleston, S.C., Dec. 8, 1771, died in Bryan Co., Ga., Feb. 27, 1844." "Sacred to the memory of William Savage who died at Silk Hope, October 20, 1838, aged 60 years." "Sacred to the memory of Mary Elliott Savage, widow of Thomas Savage of Charleston, only child of William and Elizabeth Butler, who was born Aug. 19, 1748 and died at Silk Hope, July 4, 1789" Erected by her only surviving child, Mary Clay, 1838 "Sacred to the memory of Thomas Savage who died Oct. 10, 1812, aged 37 years.
