Carswell, Judge of Superior Court of the Middle District of Georgia, Bulloch County. The petition of Henry Murphy and Sarah A. Murphy showed that they are residents of Bulloch County and that Henry Murphy is the head of a family composed of the said Sarah A. Murphy his Wife and the children John M. Murphy, Susan Murphy, America Murphy and Ann Murphy, and that the said Henry Murphy had set apart for the benefit of his family, a homestead out of 300 acres, shown in a plat required by law, a copy of the plat hereto annexed marked “Exhibit A”, that the said land is worth not over $500 dollars. Your petitioners further shows there are no buildings and few improvements of any kind on said land and the petitioners from their poverty are unable to put such improvements thereon as will cause the land to be profitable. S/ T.H. Potter, Atty. for Petitioners Exhibit A Plat R.F. Saunders disposes and says that the plat is a true representation of the homestead of H. Murphy, is correctly platted and not worth more than $300 dollars.
