Ogeechee River-Lanier’s Ferry

1808, January 5--- This Indenture made between Ebenezer Jenks of Chatham County 
unto John Lanier Sr. of Bulloch County.  For and in consideration of the sum of 
$5000 dollars, convey 1040 acres lying and being on the South side of the Great 
Ogechee River including said Lanier’s Ferry, originally granted  to the said 
John Lanier, Sr. and Charles Watson and butting and bounding Northwesterly by 
Shadrack Mills, Southwesterly by vacant land, Southeasterly at or near George 
Wolfs land, Rhodes and said Lanier and Northeasterly by the Great Ogechee 
River.  And 40 acres on the North side of the great Ogechee River in the County 
of Effingham and joining the said Lanier’s Ferry. [several pages of legal 
instructions]
