This information was from a Lasseter family Bible.[Bible of (Harold) Tonge Bird greatgrandson of Emery Lasseter] The Bible records also shows that Emery had a brother, Amos and a sister, Nancy. Their father was Emory Lasseter. Emery married Mary Bell Jourdan about 1800. She was born December 25, 1783, and died August 4, 1873 in Attapulgus, Decatur County, GA. An article in an 1807 Augusta Chronicle states that Emery Lasseter was a jailor in Burke County. Emery and Mary are found in the census records for 1810, living in Waynesboro, Burke County, GA. Also in the 1810 census was a Edward Lasseter, a Lemuel Lasseter and a William Lasseter. Emery and Mary's children were Ann Caroline Lasseter, b. Dec. 21, 1806, John Lasseter, Born Nov. 9, 1808, Martha Ann Lasseter, born Feb. 4, 1810, and Emery Lasseter, born Jan. 26, 1812. All these children were born in Burke County, GA. The 1820 census lists Mary as head of household. Other heads of household in this census were Edward Lasseter, Lemuel Lasseter and William Lasseter. Mary subsequently moved her family to Attapulgus, Decatur County, GA where she raised her family. She never remarried. According to family tradition, the immigrant Lasseter came to South Carolina with Lafayette. I have not been able to confirm this, looking at the names of individuals on Lafayette's ship which arrived in Charleston in the 1770s (I can't remember the exact date.)
