COMPANY C COMPANY C, 32nd REGIMENT BURKE COUNTY, GEORGIA COMPANY NICKNAME: "WILLIAMS' VOLUNTEERS" or the "WILLIAMSBURG JUNIOR GUARD" PRIOR SERVICE: Some members of this Company were originally in Company B, 6th Regiment Georgia State Troops and Company D, 48th Regiment Georgia Infantry. Note: This company is reported as receiving training as heavy artillerists and served as such at times. COMPANY OFFICERS & STAFF Samuel Ivey HEATH - Captain. Captain Heath was wounded at Morris Island, South Carolina, July 2,1864. Walter T. MOODY - 1st Lieutenant Benning I. HALL - 2nd Lieutenant J. M MATHIS, Jr. - 2nd Lieutenant Weems R. DIXON - 2nd Lieutenant G. L. COCHRAN - 1st Sergeant Jordan C. ROYAL - 2nd Sergeant. Sergeant Royal was wounded at The Battle of Olustee, Florida, February 20, 1864, and at River's Bridge, South Carolina, February 5, 1865 , and captured there February 6, 1865. S. E. GODBEE - 2nd Sergeant. He died from wounds received at The Battle of Olustee, Florida, February 20, 1864. W. F. BUXTON - 3rd Sergeant H. M. HEATH - 3rd Sergeant George W. J. HOLLAND - 4th Sergeant. He was wounded at The Battle of Olustee, Florida, February 20,1864. Alford A. GODBEE - 1st Corporal Joseph W. ROYAL - 2nd Corporal J. L. GRIFFIN - 3rd Corporal G. W. HEATH - 4th Corporal. He was wounded in head at Morris Island, South Carolina, June 2,1864. PRIVATES ALLEN, Mathew - Also in Company H. Private Allen was wounded at River's Bridge, South Carolina,, February 5,1865. He was captured near Raleigh, N. C. April 14, 1865. ARMSTRONG, W. J. BARGERON, George Washington - Records show he was wounded at River's Bridge, South Carolina. BARGERON, John G. BARGERON, Stephen H. - Records show he died at Savannah, Georgia in 1862. No cause of death given. BARGERON, William BARROW, Charles BARROW, Henry BARROW, Homer BARROW, Samuel BELL, Elias - He was wounded at The Battle of Olustee, Florida February 20, 1864. BELL, William - He died of brain fever in Burke County, Georgia, September 28, 1862. BERRY, Alex BOWIE, Mack - He was killed at River's Bridge, South Carolina, February 5, 1865. BROXTON, Dennis - He was wounded at River's Bridge, South Carolina,, February 5, 1865. BROXTON, John - Records show he died of typhoid fever in Georgia Hospital at Savannah, Georgia, September 10, 1862. BROXTON, Seabron Lewis BURTON, Uriah BUXTON, Wade H. COSNAHAN, George DANIEL, T. S. - He died at Richmond, Virginia on September 4, 1864. DAVIS, William A. DIXON, Dennis B. - Dennis B. Dixon enlisted as a private in Company C, 32d Georgia Regiment on May 12, 1862 . Records indicate he was cut off from his command on retreat from River's Bridge, S. C. February 9, 1865. He died on January 11, 1931. Dennis was still in service when Sherman went through the land around Girard Georgia. His wife Narcissus learning that the soldiers were approaching, hid a gray mare in the woods. When Dennis returned from the war, the mare was the only possession left to him. Dennis's brother Thomas J. Dixon was in Company F 2nd Georgia Infantry. [FAM DIXON - MIL REC HENDERSON] ELLISON, B. H. RATCLIFF, Benjamin RATCLIFF, Julius W. - He was wounded at The Battle of Olustee, Florida, February 20, 1864. REDD, William Guilford ROYAL was born 14 Apr 1838 in Burke County, Georgia. He enlisted on 12 May 1862. He was Wounded at the battle of Bentonville, North Carolina on 21 Mar 1865. Guilford was paroled at Headquarters Post Cheraw, South Carolina on 5 Mar 1865.
