Sept. 19 - John F. McClellan died at his residence on the Louisville highway this morning after an illness of only three days. He had been active up to the time he was suddenly stricken. Funeral services will be held at the Lewis Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock with the Rev. Knolan Benfield, pastor of Waynesboro Baptist Church, and the Rev. Robert Daniel officiating. Internment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Active pallbearers are: G. W. Murrow, R. C. Neely, J. W. Brinson, G. Metts Cochran, Tabb McKinley, and J. R. Roberson. Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. J. M. Byrne, Jr., Dr. T. A. Bargeron, J. F. McElmurray, B. H. Jones, A. W. Neelly, E. E. Chance, Edgar Bargeron, R. L. Hadden, N. B. Skinner, and W. A. Sikes. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Leon McClellan of Miami, J. E. McClellan of Jacksonville, Luther McClellan of Augusta, four daughters, Mrs. Jesse Willie Davis of Rocky Ford, Ga., Mrs. Katie Weeks of Augusta, Mrs. Guy Kelly and Mrs. Inman Kelly of Waynesboro, Ga., several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. (Note: John Franklin McClellan, born Oct. 28, 1875 in Burke Co., near Girard, Ga., was the son of Dawson C. and Susan Kelly McClellan.
