Sapp, 48, a farmer of Burke county, died in a Millen hospital Sunday night of wounds inflicted by his son, J. C. Sapp. The sheriff said that the eldest Sapp had arrived at his home Saturday night under the influence of whisky and had run Mrs. Sapp and their children out of the house. He said the father had left the house and was searching for his family near a small drain near the residence when he struck a match, J. C. Sapp then fired. The 17 year odl boy was allowed to attend his father's funeral this afternoon, but was then lodged in the Burke county jail under a murder charge. Sapp was a native of Alexander, GA in Burke county, and has spent his entire life there. He was a World War veteran and a member of the Bethal Baptist church. Funeral services were held at Bethel church this afternoon at 4 o'clock with Rev. T. R. Harvie of the Millen Baptist church officiating. Interment followed in the churchyard cemetery. Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Mary Ward of Burke county, two daughters, Miss Delma Sapp and Miss Elsie Marie Sapp of Burke county; four sons, J. C. Sapp, Sydney Sapp, Seabie Sapp, and Floyd Sapp, all of Burke county; his mother, Mrs. Cora Lee Perkins of Sardis, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Duff Lovett and Miss Mary Sapp, both of Sardis, GA, and a brother, McKinley Sapp of Sardis, GA.
