Funeral Services were held Monday, May 19, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Gene Breed officiating. Interment followed at Burke Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Royal was born in Burke County, but had resided in Clayton County for the past 40 years. She was the daughter of Frank Royal and Alice Tobias Royal. She had retired as a newspaper reporter having worked for The True Citizen, The Augusta Chronicle and the News Daily of Jonesboro. She also served Clayton County, Georgia as a justice of the peace for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and had volunteered faithfully for the March of Dimes. She was Baptist by faith and attended Grace Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Survivors include a son, Bobby (Brenda) Quick of Riverdale; a daughter, Linda (Tim) Knier of Decatur; and four grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
