P. Saxon buried in Augusta, Georgia yesterday. The funeral of Mr. Joseph Polhill Saxon, who died Wednesday night, at the city hospital, will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from Broadway Methodist Church. Interment city cemetery. Mr. Saxon born in Burke County, near Waynesboro, Ga., on the 9th of December 1858. At the age of 19 he came to Augusta, Georgia, and entered the grocery business as an apprentice. At the age of 22 he bought out his employer, and the business was carried under the name of J. P. Saxon. A year ago the firm's name was changed to J. P. Saxon & Sons. On 10-26-1883, he married miss S. G. Rich. Mr. Saxon was a consisent member of the Broadway Methodist Church, and was a treasurer of the Knights of Pythias and the Woodmen of the World. Both Lodger's will attend the funeral services in body. Mr. Saxon leaves a wife, five sons and two daughters, who are, Mrs. Sophie Rich Saxon, Mr. Allen Saxon, Mr. Hugh Saxon, Mr. Joseph Saxon and George Saxon and Mrs. L. B. Moore and Miss Bessie Saxon.
