Tonge Bird was a great grandson of Emery Lasseter and Mary Bell Jourdan. His parents were John S. Bird and Mary Jourdan Lasseter (daughter of John Lasseter and Julia Ann Pierpont Bird). (John S. Bird and Mary Jourdan Lasseter were first cousins.) The last I knew, the Bible was in the possession of a Bird descendant, Joe Bird of Collegedale, TN. Tonge Bird wrote in his Bible: (Note: This was written by Tonge Bird with no break into paragraphs, but I have transcribed it for clarity as follows) Genealogy of the Lasseters "The first we know of the Lasseters was at Waynesboro, Ga. where Emory Lasseter, brother of Amos and Nancy, married Mary Jourdan. Know nothing of the birth or death of Emory Lasseter, but his wife reared her children, Martha, John, Caroline and Emory, near Attapulgus, Ga. She died and was burried there. John Lasseter, son of Emory and brother of Martha, Caroline, and Emory was borne at Waynesboro, Ga. and was killed by a falling tree on the 7th April 1877, near Concord, Fla., Gadsden County, Fla. Mary Jourdan Lasseter, daughter of John Lasseter and Julia Ann Bird was borne near Attapulgus, Ga. 26th of Feby 1844 and died of a congestive chill at Collumbia, Ala. Aug 11th 1875 and is burried there. Don't know who Amos Lasseter, the brother of Emory and Nancy married or what became of him. Nancy Lasseter, sister of Emory and Amos married a man name Shewmake."
